Hi! My name is Hannah Jones, and I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor at Maryland Counseling Associates. This is my first year at MCA, and I am really excited to share some information about my background with you.

What’s interesting about me is that counseling wasn’t my first career. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Immaculata University in 2012 in History with a Secondary Education Certification. I have been a social studies teacher since I graduated. That is where my passion for psychology started. Once I started teaching psychology, I became very interested in the content and decided to go back to school part-time to become a clinical mental health counselor.

In 2015, I decided to go to McDaniel College and pursue my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I recently graduated in 2019. While in this program, I completed my practicum at a private practice called Healing Path Counseling Center in Sykesville, Maryland. I, then, completed my internship at Advanced Behavioral Health in Frederick, Maryland. These opportunities gave me a variety of experiences in vastly different environments with different types of therapeutic techniques. I have done individual and family counseling, and I have led some group therapy, as well. I have worked with a diversified client group with a wide range of needs. My experience as an educator has been invaluable in this transition to a counselor, as I have developed a skill set that I wouldn’t have otherwise, and I have developed experience working with children and adolescents and with areas such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

As a Certified Compassion Fatigue Practitioner, my approach includes empathy, reflective listening, and compassion. I value building therapeutic relationships with every client to create a space that fosters growth, comfort, and safety. My approach allows clients to share their stories without judgement and communicate their needs in a way that helps them feel understood and supported. No matter your challenges or background, we can work together toward achieving positive changes and healing.

This year has been very challenging for all of us, and we may be experiencing heightened feelings of grief, isolation, and anxiety. If you are interested in my services or need additional support, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at hannah@marylandcounselingassociates.com.
